Pilates Studio Etiquette

At our Pilates studio, we believe that good etiquette helps create a friendly and respectful atmosphere for everyone!

To make the most of your experience, please arrive on time for your scheduled session and come dressed in comfortable workout attire. We also appreciate your consideration for others by practicing personal hygiene and keeping scents light, so everyone can enjoy the class.

During your session, be mindful to follow your instructor’s guidance and maintain a positive environment by avoiding any disruptive behavior. By following these simple etiquette tips, we can all enjoy a wonderful and uplifting experience together in our studio!

Common Q&A's

Equipment is wiped down after each session.

For your safety, please refrain from using the equipment until your instructor gives the go-ahead. This is because the equipment often needs to be properly adjusted after the last session to ensure it’s safe for use.

Towels are provided, or you can bring your own to wipe sweat.

Exercise watches, and Fitbits are OK to wear.

Remove necklaces, rings, dangly, or loop earrings to avoid being caught on equipment, for your safety, and to prevent tears in the upholstery.

Remove any items from your body or pockets  (phone, keys, wallet, coins, etc.) that may puncture, scratch, tear, or damage the leather on the equipment.

Yes. Pilates socks are designed with non-slip soles or grips on the bottom, which can provide better traction and stability during exercises. This can be particularly helpful when performing Pilates on a smooth surface or using Pilates equipment such as reformers or stability balls.

Additionally, Pilates socks can help maintain hygiene by providing a barrier between your feet and the equipment or mat, reducing the risk of spreading bacteria or fungi. They can also keep your feet warm and provide some cushioning.

Tops:  A comfortable, breathable T-shirt or fitted top is best so the instructor can analyze your movement. Avoid loose clothing that could get caught on equipment, or tops that knot in the back as some movements are performed laying down. Some movements require bending over, dress accordingly.

Stretch leggings or bottoms: Leggings, bike shorts, or other bottoms that are not too loose or overly baggy are recommended. Some movements require legs up in the air, dress accordingly.

Low-impact sports bra: Pilates doesn’t involve explosive or fast movements, but you still want to feel supported. Opt for a low-impact bra that doesn’t feel ultra-constricting.

Grip socks: These are required in our studio. These non-slip socks hold poses, protect your feet, and provide added stability. We have some at the studio for sale if you do not have any.

Hair ties: Keep strands away from your face using fabric hair ties for a distraction-free workout.

Avoid jewelry: Jewelry can be caught on the equipment during exercises, puncture, or tear the upholstery. For safety reasons, do not wear necklaces, dangling earrings, or items that may get caught on the equipment. Remove them before getting on the equipment. Fitbits and fitness watches are okay.

Tops:  A comfortable, breathable T-shirt that is not to baggy and loose so your instructor can analyze your movements.

Bottoms: Lined or compression shorts under regular gym shorts or long pants that are not overly baggy. Some movements require legs up in the air, dress accordingly.

Grip socks: These are required in our studio. These non-slip socks hold poses, protect your feet, and provide added stability. We have some at the studio for sale if you do not have any.

Avoid jewelry: Jewelry can be caught on the equipment during exercises or puncture the equipment. Please remove jewelry before your workout. Fitbits and exercise watches are okay.

Training with different instructors can be beneficial for several reasons.

Firstly, different instructors have their own unique teaching styles and approaches. By training with multiple instructors, you can gain exposure to different techniques, methods, and perspectives. This can help you find a trainer you connect with, broaden your knowledge and skills, and allows you to have a more well-rounded training experience.

Secondly, different instructors may specialize in different areas or have expertise in specific techniques. By training with a variety of instructors, you can learn from their individual strengths and areas of expertise. This can help you develop a diverse skill set and expand your knowledge in various aspects of your training.

Additionally, training with different instructors can provide you with different learning environments and dynamics. Each instructor may have a different teaching method or communication style, which can offer you new and varied learning experiences. This can help keep your training fresh and exciting, preventing stagnation and boredom.

However, it is important to note that consistency and continuity in your training are also important. It is advisable to have a primary instructor or a main training program to ensure a structured and progressive approach to your training. Mixing it up with different instructors can be beneficial, but having a solid foundation and consistent guidance is equally important.

  • A water bottle to stay hydrated during the session
  • Positive attitude. Don’t worry if it’s not readily handy – we provide a lot of it for you!
  • Any doctor notes or physical therapy notes if recovering from surgery or in rehab.
  • Wear comfortable workout clothes (see what to wear)
  • Pilates socks (if you do not have them, we have them available to purchase)

We know you are excited to begin your session, however, please wait for your instructor to start your session before getting on equipment. We ask this for several reasons and for your safety.

  1. The equipment may need to be wiped down and you do not want to lay in someone else’s sweat. Ewe!
  2. The equipment may not be set up for your session. It could be on a setting that is too light and you could fall or injure yourself if it isn’t ready for your session.
  3. Your instructor may have a different session in mind using other equipment and it avoids the instructor having to wipe down an unnecessary piece of equipment, which reduces your session time.
  4. With multiple instructors in the studio, another instructor may be using that piece of equipment for their client.

We know your time is valuable, and ours is too.  We understand that unforeseen circumstances may occur that interfere with your appointment time. However, due to a high demand for our services and out of respect for our instructors and our other clients, we require that you provide a 24 hour notice for any appointment changes or cancellations.

Cancellations made 24 hours or more in advance of the session date will not be charged.

Cancellations made within 24 hours will not receive a refund.

Please do not hesitate to ask if you have questions about these policies.

If you need to cancel your appointment or speak to one of our instructors directly, please call, text, or email using the information provided below. Cancellations less than 24 hours are charged for the full session.

If a time or class space is unavailable you can add your name to the waitlist via our online scheduling system. You can also contact us via email, text or call.

Packages expire 3 months after date of purchase. We offer online/livestream sessions to ensure you can get your sessions used.

Sessions are 50 minutes, unless otherwise noted as a 30 minute session. This time is to allow for the instructor to wipe down the equipment and prepare for the next appointment.

If you are running late, please contact your instructor and let them know. If you can make some of your session, we encourage you still coming to the studio. Since you will be charged for that session, some workout is better than none!

We offer a variety of other services!

  1. Chair massage infused with CBD products.
  2. Stretching sessions
  3. Tens unit sessions. This is where we use a tens unit to stimulate muscle for relief.

We have several clients who have their own gym or Pilates equipment in their homes or wish to maintain their privacy and request that we come to train them at their place. That is absolutely no problem with advance booking! Please contact Lisa Baskfield at 941-500-2944 or [email protected] directly to discuss rates and scheduling.

Heck yes! In fact, this is one of our favorite things to do for clients. Do not worry about experience levels for these sessions. We plan for all levels when working with you on what type of session to develop for you!

  • Many clients have friends and family members come visit and want to set up a special session with them. We’ve done mother/daughter, father/son, full families, friends visiting, etc.
  • We’ve hosted several GNO events at the studio.

Simply contact Lisa Baskfield and 941-500-2944 to discuss the details and we will get it arranged.
